Used 2015 Nissan GT-R Premium

The Nissan GT-R is offered in Premium, Black Edition, Track Edition and a new NISMO model. All but the NISMO are powered by a 3.8L twin-turbocharged V6, which makes 545 horsepower and 463 pound-feet of torque. The NISMO uses the same V6, though it is tuned to produce 600 horsepower. In all models, power is put to all four wheels with a performance-oriented all-wheel-drive system and a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox (with no actual clutch pedal) handles the shifting.

With the GT-R's 545 horsepower, the dash to 60 mph takes around three seconds, and top speed is a claimed 196 mph. Brakes are strong enough for secure stops from triple-digit speeds, and handling is enhanced by the variable-power-split all-wheel drive system. The ride is stiff, owing to this car's prioritization of performance above all else. The NISMO features an even more track-oriented suspension set up, which complements the car's additional aerodynamic aids, including a unique rear spoiler.

Inside, the GT-R feels snug, with a strong cockpit design. The driver sits low in rather narrow, well-bolstered sport seats, with a wide center console alongside. Steering wheel paddle shifters can command quick shifts, while center-stack controls are canted slightly toward the driver.

The GT-R has a very extensive list of features. Heated, leather-suede-trimmed seats, full power accessories, an Intelligent Key entry and ignition system, a navigation system with XM NavTraffic and NavWeather, a universal garage-door opener and Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity are all included. Also included is a Bose sound system with nine speakers, two subwoofers, Bluetooth streaming audio and DVD playback capability, USB and iPod connectivity and XM satellite radio. Bose Active Noise Cancellation rounds it out.

Priced about $10,000 above the $101,770 GT-R Premium, the Black Edition adds metallic black lightweight forged RAYS aluminum wheels, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, Recaro sport bucket seats, and unique red and black interior trim. The Track Edition features additional brake cooling, a track-tuned suspension and a carbon-fiber trunk lid. Finally, in addition to the extra power, the GT-R NISMO brings its own suspension tweaks, wider six-spoke wheels and aggressive aerodynamic aids front and rear.

There are few major options on the GT-R. A Cold Weather Package adds Dunlop run-flat tires and smoke-gray forged aluminum wheels. A backup camera is also available.

For 2015, Nissan's all-conquering GT-R features a recalibrated suspension for improved handling. Also new are LED headlights, a carbon fiber trunk lid on Track Edition models, and improved interior sound deadening in all models, with Bose Active Noise Cancellation standard. A new model also joins the lineup -- the 600-horsepower GT-R NISMO.

The Nissan GT-R might be more popular from racing video games than from the street. The GT-R is a true exotic supercar -- it's a legend because of its rarity, exotic powertrain, and incredible performance numbers.
